So after you’ve soaked up the sun, relaxed on the beaches, visited the charming towns, and ambled through the countryside, here is our selection of local attractions and activities for you to consider during your stay.
Quince Honey Farm
Located on a family-run honey farm that has been producing various honey products since 1949, this informative yet fantastically fun attraction teaches the whole family about beekeeping while keeping the little ones entertained in a large soft play area, and the adults well-fed in the welcoming cafe. There is even an outdoor play area and a chance for children to try their hand as mini beekeepers!
Ilfracombe Aquarium
This all-weather educational attraction is located in the historic harbour town of Ilfracombe. Home to over 75 species of fish, the team at the aquarium works hard to ensure the habitats of each animal replicates its natural environment. End your trip to this wonderful aquatic haven with a visit to the Pier Cafe, located at the front of the aquarium – it’s the perfect place to sit and watch the day-to-day workings of this beautiful harbour.
Exmoor Zoo
Styled as the ‘Home of the Exmoor Beast’, Exmoor Zoo has the only black leopard exhibit in the UK and is a hugely popular choice for a day out. The zoo showcases a large range of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and arthropods, and holds daily educational talks in the various enclosures and habitats to educate guests about the wide variety of animals that call Exmoor Zoo home.
Combe Martin Wildlife & Dinosaur Park
Experience animal encounters, both living and prehistoric, at this fantastic wildlife park set over 28 acres of beautiful gardens. Spot lions, baboons, wolves and penguins, to name a few, visit the critter cavern and tropical house, and be sure to watch the daily sea-lion show
Watermouth Castle
A quirky and interesting venue, mixing a historic Victorian castle with a theme park and landscaped gardens. Fun for all ages and suitable for little ones, there are a number of exciting rides for the whole family to enjoy. Admission also grants access to the underground Water Show Extravaganza.
The Big Sheep
An all-weather theme park that is huge fun for the whole family, with rides suitable for little ones as well as larger roller coasters, bouncy pillows and a large indoor play area. There is even an on-site brewery and gin distillery. After all that fun, watch a famous sheep race – place a bet and see if your chosen wooly runner earns a place in the winner’s circle.
The Milky Way Adventure Park
Keep your family entertained for hours on end at this all-weather, all-ages attraction. With something for everyone, including fantastic rides, indoor play area and live shows you’re sure to have a blast at the Milky Way Adventure Park.
North Devon Wake Park
More than just a wake-boarding park, the North Devon Wake Park is a fast-paced, energetic, and action-packed day out for the whole family. Zip across the lake using the overhead cables or try to stay on board your inflatable ride as you’re pulled at high speed behind a boat. Race each other to complete the inflatable assault course – your main objective: stay out of the water! For something more sedate, but no less exhilarating, try stand-up paddle boarding or even super 8-person stand-up paddle boarding.
Ultimate Adventure Centre
For the most action-packed day ever, head to the Ultimate Adventure Centre and try your hand at archery, mountain boarding or disc golf, or take on the Ultimate Assault or Aerial Adventure courses. Activity days are available, allowing you to book onto a selection of activities and one great price.
